Transilwrap Company, Inc., a value-added manufacturer, converter and distributor of specialty film products used in healthcare, packaging, point-of purchase, display advertising, security identification, protective and industrial markets, today completed the acquisition of The Dow Chemical Company’s (NYSE: DOW) Global Specialty Films business.
Dow’s specialty films business has over 50 years of expertise in providing film solutions used in medical, packaging and industrial markets and specializes in the production of blown oriented polystyrene films and co-extruded multilayer barrier and polyolefin films for global customers, through manufacturing and R&D facilities in Hebron, Ohio and Drusenheim, France.
The business is an industry pioneer for many medical, packaging and industrial applications and is considered the leading global producer of high-value and technically complex medical films for ostomy bags. In the packaging and industrial segments, Specialty Films enjoys strong brand recognition with SARANEX™ Barrier Films, PROCITE™ Films and OPTICITE™ Films across many applications including beverage closure liners, window envelope films, labels and protective fabrics.
“This strategic acquisition supports Transilwrap’s growth objectives in targeted markets, including healthcare, packaging and industrial segments. Additionally, it brings outstanding barrier film technology which complements our existing capabilities, while strengthening our geographic presence in Europe,” said Andy J. Brewer, President & CEO of Transilwrap. “Lastly, we are gaining a talented group of employees that will now be part of a more focused specialty films business, allowing us to achieve the acquired business’ full potential.”
Since its partnership with The Jordan Company in November 2013, Transilwrap has been aggressively pursuing a visIon to be a predominant global specialty films company. Dow’s Specialty Films business represents a meaningful acquisition towards this goal.
